Asynchronicity was pretty easy!
b45eafc866605e37847c98167c2daab3a4cdd371: This seems to do something useful. Now I want to break it apart into little chunks that can be run from timeouts, to avoid long-script warnings. Profiling might be nice too!

slideUntilHit works, apparently I had to comment out the undefined checks in hitTest to get it to trace... I'm not sure whether that's an expected thing yet.
